Update on Hurricane Nate

Hurricane Nate is on course to make landfall on the US Gulf coast on Saturday night (CET) according to forecasts by the NHC. It is currently NE of the Yucatán peninsula in Mexico on a NNW course across the Gulf of Mexico.

Nate passed outside the peninsula, which provided for a more rapid intensification than was previously forecast. Current track indicates a landfall as a Category 1 hurricane on the coast of Mississippi or Alabama, though the coast from Eastern Louisiana to Florida to Northwestern Florida could be affected. It should be noted, however, that intensity forecasts are complicated.

Entropics continuously monitors the development and will, if needed, with further information.
